Operations Manager

Q. How did you get into the Warehousing Operations line of work

A. I’d like to say there was a plan but there wasn’t. My first few jobs as a team were part time jobs in warehousing. It has grown from there over the years. I have been a Warehouse Manager, Production Manager, Inventory Control Manager, Fulfillment Manager, Service/Repair Manager, and Traffic Manager. Being an Operations Manager is a melding of all of these previous roles.

Q. Your team has impressive turnaround time on orders with greater than 95% of all orders shipping next business day or same day How do you maintain those levels of high service

A. Experimentation.we do not allow ourselves to fall into a production rut. We continue to keep trying new and different ways in which to accomplish our work, keeping us always focused on achieving the highest levels of efficiency and quality control regardless of the work load.

Q. What do you find to be the biggest challenge that you encounter in your work

A. In my previous career experiences, I was the manufacturer direct warehousing support structure. At TMP Direct we provide the outsourced warehousing support structure for the manufacturer which is different and took some getting used to. We are always generating recommendations to our clients whether it is for process improvement, packaging improvements, or shipping recommendations to provide greater efficiencies from both an inventory management and distribution perspective as well as from a cost perspective. In my past, I was able to more rapidly deploy these changes in order to see immediate benefits for my company. At TMP Direct we have a little bit less control over the timing of when the recommendations are implemented which is different for me.

Q. I learned that you have a house in Florida. What is your favorite thing to do when you visit Florida

A. Currently working on my house and relaxing by the pool with drinks and friends. I have been going down every three years for the last 35 years so I am a typical tourist.so Universal, SeaWorld, Wet and Wild, and of course, visiting my friend Mickey are all on the agenda!

Q. If you could go anywhere in the world, besides Florida, where would you go and why

A. New Zealand.Google it sometime it is so gorgeous there!
