Amy Rucker
Director Client Services

Q.  What do you do for TMP Direct?

A.  Client services has the day-to-day responsibility for a client.   We're the one point of contact for clients.  We're their champions.  Basically, my job is to make sure that we're a well-oiled machine and that all our commitments are met.

Q.  How long have you been with TMP Direct?

A.  I started 5 days after I graduated from college.  My father said "get a job."  I got an interview with TMP Direct while I was still taking finals.  That was nine years ago.  The rest is history.

Q.  What changes would you like to see in the customer service industry?

A.  It worries me that the cost benefits of some automated technologies are causing some companies to lose sight of the fact that different people have different needs.  Some people would rather reach an automated system or go to a web page.  Other people want to call, they want to talk with a real person and they want to be able to call whenever it's convenient for them.  I have a lot of respect for companies that realize their customers have different communication "styles."

Q.  If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

A.  That's easy.  I want to be the director of PR for the New York Yankees.  I even love the rejection letter I got from them years ago telling me that there were no openings but they'd keep my resume on file.

Q.  What do you do in your spare time?

A.  I enjoy spending time with my husband and puppy, Buddy.   We also love to canoe and kayak.  Plus I take photographs wherever we go — they're all over my house.
